New projects in the data centre, commercial and residential sectors have driven sustained growth at North East-based engineering firm RWO over the past year.
The Seaton Burn-headquartered business, which provides civil, structural and geo-environmental engineering services, has recorded a 20% increase in turnover in its latest financial year. Revenue for FY2025 has now reached £3.5 million, with projections to rise to £4 million in 2026.
Working with national developers, contractors and local authorities, RWO delivers engineering support across the full project lifecycle – from feasibility through to construction. The firm attributes its strong performance to a healthy forward order book, continued demand, and the strategic restructuring of its operations into discipline-based teams.
A busy 12 months has seen the 35-strong team provide a full suite of engineering services for data centre developments, education facilities, and police training centres, among other key projects.
RWO’s current client base includes leading names such as Vistry Group, Karbon Homes, Taylor Wimpey, Bellway Homes, Barratt Developments, Latos Global Switch, Black & White Engineering, Gleeds, Cloud HQ and Vantage. Recent wins also include structural and site engineering support for a major manufacturer and installer of high mast lighting for airports and highways, as well as development work with the Banks Group.
The firm has also invested in additional skilled engineers to meet growing demand and underpin future growth.
Looking ahead, managing director Ross Oakley said the outlook remains strong, with new work in the pipeline and ongoing recruitment to support its expanding portfolio.
“We continue to remain focused on delivering high quality services following a realignment of operations, all backed by unsurpassed experience and project management expertise to deliver the services clients require. We have further strengthened our order book and expanded our service offering, boosting the foundations of our business – all supported by a dedicated and skilled team.
“We expect to see increased volumes of work across all sectors but especially in important residential and data centre markets as clients continue to invest and push on with their projects to meet government targets for housing and the growing use of AI and data driven technologies.”
