Hartlepool-based ExMesh Engineering has announced plans for significant expansion in 2025, underpinned by a £500k investment.

As one of the UK’s foremost metal fabrication companies, ExMesh Engineering will embark on a major recruitment drive later this year while rolling out an extensive range of new services to meet increasing customer demand.

A division of The Expanded Metal Company, a trusted name in metal solutions since 1889, ExMesh Engineering will build on more than a century of expertise with a renewed focus on innovation and growth.

Known for its premium expanded metal perimeter fencing, the company is expanding into complete metal fabrication solutions, offering everything from intricate custom designs to large-scale production runs.

Ryan Pinder, ExMesh Operations Manager and Head of Continuous Improvement (CI), commented:

“To support our bold new direction, we have made substantial investments in state-of-the-art machinery, enabling us to deliver unparalleled precision, flexibility, and capacity in metal fabrication.

“New services include a top-of-the-line laser cutter capable of cutting carbon steel, mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium with extreme accuracy and efficiency—ideal for complex and large-scale projects. Additionally, our advanced press brake allows us to handle intricate metal bending and folding tasks, ensuring we meet even the most demanding specifications. Alongside this, our award-winning cobot welding system delivers consistent, high-quality welding, enabling us to manage projects that require precision and repeatability at scale.

“We are very proud to invest and build on the skills and heritage deeply rooted here in Teesside.”

With an expert design team in-house, ExMesh Engineering will support clients across diverse sectors—including construction, architecture, industrial applications, and retail—from initial concept through to final delivery.

Philip Astley, Managing Director of The Expanded Metal Company, said:

“This new chapter marks a significant milestone in the evolution of ExMesh Engineering and our group. We are excited to offer our customers more than ever before, whether they need security solutions or custom metal fabrications.”
