Powering Up Britain plan sets out roadmap to net zero that will create opportunities for UK supply chain

“For NOF members and the wider UK supply chain, the Powering Up Britain plan announced today sets out a roadmap that businesses can work towards, through investment in their capabilities and technologies to support the energy transition and also maximise on the supply chain opportunities that it undoubtedly will present.

“Although much of what has been included has been announced previously, it has provided a more joined up approach to achieving net zero, which will require input from our members who are actively engaged across the energy industry, from developers, operators, contractors through to creative, innovative and agile suppliers.

“Eight projects are being taken forward under Track 1 involving the East Coast Cluster and Hynet in the North West. It is positive to see this progress in the development of Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (CCUS) and Hydrogen, with plans to move the process forward to form a Track-2 Cluster, which could involve developments in regions such as Scotland and Humberside.

Joanne also added: “NOF will continue to offer diversification support to members to facilitate their entry into the emerging sectors of CCUS and Hydrogen as well as nuclear and floating offshore wind.

“Our approach to the development of an integrated energy sector supply chain means our members will be able to react quickly to new opportunities and NOF will continue to build valuable relationships between project developers on behalf of members.”

“This approach means the work of NOF and its members will go a long way to supporting the UK Government’s ambition around energy security and meeting our net zero targets.”
