NOF Energy, the business development organisation for oil, gas, nuclear and offshore renewables sectors, has welcomed the Government’s decision to confirm the go-ahead on the new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point.
The Durham-based organisation, which represents around 500 companies in the energy sector supply chain, believes the decision brings clarity to the sector and opens up opportunities for UK suppliers with experience of the industry and those with transferable skills and services.
George Rafferty, Chief Executive of NOF Energy, said: “Nuclear forms an important part of a balanced energy mix and this decision should bring some much needed certainty to the sector and a step towards meeting the country’s future power requirements.
“It will also be a boost for the UK supply chain, which includes NOF Energy members that are experienced in the nuclear sector or have transferable products, services and skills that can be applied to projects such as Hinkley Point C.”
