Membership boost at NOF as supply chain companies diversify to meet the demands of the energy transition

NOF, the UK business development organisation for the energy sector, has seen a surge in new members as supply chain companies seek support to diversify and contribute to the energy transition.

During recent months, more than 75 new members have signed up taking its total membership to in excess of 430.

The new companies, which are located across the UK, are from the engineering, manufacturing, industrial and professional services sectors and include start-ups looking to bring their agility and innovative solutions into the energy sector supply chain.

NOF, which has a national reach, embraces the offshore wind, hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, nuclear, oil & natural gas industries.

It provides vital industry intelligence to companies to ensure they are fully informed of business development opportunities, raises the profile of members through impactful marketing and media support, highlights projects of interest and importantly connects its members to the right points of contact to facilitate new relationships.

To enable companies to transfer their skills and expertise into new and emerging markets, NOF also forms partnerships with developers, operators and tier one contractors which ultimately benefit its members.

Joanne Leng MBE, chief executive of NOF, said: “The energy industry is constantly evolving, but companies in our sector can remain relevant as many have skills, expertise, engineering capabilities or service offerings that can be diversified to serve both traditional and renewable energy markets.

“Across industry, the drive is on to maximise the economic and environmental benefits from renewable energy with a forecast of billions of pounds worth of investment and a huge wave of new jobs.

“The NOF team fully understands what is needed to support members to diversify so they can capitalise on opportunities arising from energy markets moving to low-carbon while also helping the oil and gas industry increase sustainability and reduce its environmental impact.

“To achieve this, NOF plays an instrumental role in forming relationships across offshore wind, oil, natural gas, nuclear and hydrogen, bringing together key players, operators, and contractors to help members win new work and bring their innovation and skills to major projects where the emphasis is on sustainability and net-zero production.

“Adding the equivalent of a new member every working day to our network is testament to the role NOF plays within the supply chain and the work we do to build the bridge between the supply chain and projects and clients.”

John Bloomfield, Global Business Development at Film-Ocean Ltd, said: “We have found the staff NOF knowledgeable and passionate about what they do.

“I have attended many NOF events both as a delegate and exhibitor and found the events to be exceptionally well run and they have the knack of getting the right mix of informative speakers and presentations with relevant exhibitors and decision makers that make for excellent networking sessions.

“NOF also run an introduction service to members and other companies which is a valuable addition to their services. Film-Ocean look forward to collaborating with NOF for many years in the future.”

Prof. George K Yule, Chairman, of recently joined NOF member Scotgrip International, said: ‘We’ve received more meaningful information from NOF in one email than we have in a year from other member organisations, and we are very grateful for this.
