Modal Training, the Humber region's new £7m training centre of excellence for the ports, energy and logistics sectors, is now taking bookings for a number of courses that have been launched ahead of the facility opening in early 2017.
The courses are classroom-based and cover basic safety, competencies and proficiencies for individuals and businesses working in the maritime, offshore and wind energy sectors.
They will include a comprehensive range of Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) courses. These range from entry-level, in accordance with section A-VI/1 of the STCW, to recertification, and courses covering: maritime security; fire fighting and fire prevention; first aid and medical care; crowd management; crisis management; personal safety; survival; and rescue boats.
To maximise seafaring safety, Modal Training is also offering the Human Element Leadership and Management Level Theory (HELM) qualification. The aim of the course is to give all officers education and training in human element leadership and management at operational level.
Jointly funded by the Grimsby Institute and the Humber LEP, as part of the Humber Growth Deal, Modal Training will be located in purpose-designed 5,696m2 facilities on Kings Road in Immingham.
