Diversification Opportunities across Energy and Defence Industries on Agenda

NOF Energy, the UK business development organisation for the oil, gas, offshore renewables and power sectors, is bringing together some of the leading players from the international energy and defence sectors to highlight diversification opportunities at a new event taking place in February.

Companies including Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, Babcock International and Jacobs will address delegates at NOF Energy’s Scotland Supply Chain Conference and Exhibition taking place on 26 and 27 February at the Macdonald Inchyra Hotel in Falkirk to demonstrate the prospects open to supply chain companies that can successfully diversify their operations across multiple energy markets.

NOF Energy, which is a membership organisation featuring more than 430 companies from the UK energy sector supply chain and an international network of strategic and global partners from across the industry.

NOF Energy provides a suite of business development services, including a calendar of conferences and networking events, designed to help its members win new business. In the past eight years, NOF Energy has assisted members in securing business worth in excess of £250 million.

This event, which is sponsored by ROSEN Group, Babcock, NRL, Wood, Costain and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, opens with a networking reception on the evening of 26 February,

The all-day conference the following day will focus on the growing importance of diversification and helping companies identify new opportunities in sectors such as, upstream and downstream oil & gas, defence, offshore wind and, wave & tidal power.

Also among the speakers at the event will be representatives from INEOS Oil & Gas Denmark, INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe, Wood, and Atlantic Resources who will discuss their experiences across the energy sectors, innovative new approaches and technology and their relationships with the supply chain.

In addition, delegates will also hear presentations from economic development agencies Invest in Falkirk, Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise about the support they provide to companies operating in the energy sector.

Delegates will also be able to visit an extensive exhibition area featuring around 40 companies showcasing their range of products and services.

George Rafferty, Chief Executive of NOF Energy, said: “Diversification is a vital part of a contemporary business strategy within the energy sector as companies attempt to manage the cyclical nature of the industry. The growth of offshore wind and its utilisation of the expertise from the offshore upstream oil & gas supply chain are proof positive of the opportunities to transfer skills and technology into a new market.

“The conference will explore these opportunities, not only in the offshore renewables fields, but in areas such as downstream oil and gas and defence markets where companies can apply their experience and services.

“We have brought together a group of high-profile companies keen to engage with Scottish companies, which will highlight the benefits of diversification to enter their supply chains.

“During the past 10 years NOF Energy has helped many of its members diversify and win new business in a wide range of energy and advanced manufacturing sectors and believe this conference will of great assistance to companies expanding their business operations across industry.”
