Successful Civil Engineering, Building and Structural Steel business Britcon has announced that Managing Director Paul Clarkson will be leaving the business at the end of this month to pursue other interests.
Hunt Group Chief Executive Shaun Hunt (pictured) is stepping back into the interim role of Managing Director as Britcon seeks to replace Paul. Shaun, who owns the long-established family business, returns to the role with over 28 years’ experience at Britcon whilst continuing to oversee developments activities under parent company Hunt Group.
Shaun Hunt said, “Sadly, we say goodbye to Paul Clarkson who has served the business well for many years and we thank him for helping to make Britcon as successful as it is today. We would like to wish Paul well for the future and feel certain that wherever he may be, he will continue to have great success.
“We are pleased to report that Britcon continues to maintain steady business growth despite the uncertain economic climate. Into 2019 we continue to see increasing opportunity in the business as we consolidate and invest further with deliberate focus on key growth areas including renewables, energy, and Infrastructure whilst maintaining our traditional markets.
“We have made considerable improvements to operational systems, staff development and training over the past few years including health and safety behavioural change, mental health awareness and digital construction training around BIM.
Established for almost 30 years, Britcon is a £45+ million turnover business headquartered in Scunthorpe and directly employs 110 people on its project sites across the UK.
Key contracts secured in the last 12 months include new warehouse and office facilities for Viking Shipping in Selby, new build and refurbishment work for Vickers Oils in Leeds, the new Ongo building, Church Square House office facility, refurbishment of the existing Church Square House and most recently the refurbishment of the Civic Centre all in Scunthorpe and for North Lincolnshire Council.
In addition, Britcon has continued to develop relationships with long standing clients with new instructions recently coming from British Steel, Associated British Ports and Stobart Rail.
