An expanding fabrication firm in Stockton has been recognised with a prestigious award by a leading, largescale manufacturer.
Katmex was named Supplier of the Year by Komatsu UK at its annual supplier conference, attended by delegates from more than 50 supply chain companies to the manufacturer.
The accolade recognises a company’s commitment to health and safety, quality, delivery and cost.
Katmex, a member of business development organisation, NOF Energy, specialises in fabricating and supplies companies from across Europe with parts used to manufacture heavy earthmoving and construction machinery, including excavators, wheeled loaders, dump trucks, backhoe loaders, fork lifts and cranes.
It employs in excess of 150 staff.
The award success follows an expansion at Katmex’s Stockton facility, which has extended two of its bays to accommodate room for new machinery, as well as undercover storage and loading space.
David Mitchell, Managing Director of Katmex, said: “We have enjoyed a longstanding partnership with Komatsu UK, and are delighted to have been recognised with its supplier of the year award. The company is now looking to build on this latest success and continue to develop our relationship with Komatsu UK further, while delivering our range of services internationally.
“It is an exciting time for the Katmex, as the investment in our facility will allow us to develop the company even more, and keep up with increased demand.”
Komatsu UK, part of Japanese multinational, Komatsu, is a manufacturer of medium-size and large crawler excavators, as well as working gear excavators.
Paul Livingstone, Business Development Manager at NOF Energy, added: “The award success for Katmex is fully deserved given its track record of supplying international manufacturers, as well as supporting many jobs here in the North East.”
